Default Ways To Fix The Game:

What happened to Guild Wars? Not that it was ever 'hard' or 'well-balanced', but I don't understand how you guys can stomach it anymore. Maybe some of you are relatively new players...

Anyway, I have a few ideas for fixing pve (pvp is a whole different story.)

First and foremost, remove consumable items and pve-only skills! I can't believe people can even enjoy playing pve with those. And then they post 'speed clear records.'

Secondly, I believe Guild Wars should change the way secondary profession skills are handled. I believe the reason that a lot of the skills work so well on other classes (mainly w/ warrior AL) is because they did not balance them for every class, they only kept in mind the class they were making it for and assumed that primary attribute support and 12 rather than 16 would matter. And it doesn't.

I'm sure there is a better way than "Only primary elites", but it's interesting that certain skills have a primary attribute prerequisite and others do not. Either way, I don't agree with Warriors using ele enchantments.

Third, nerf invulnerability related skills. While I would rather see them gone completely or changed to where they do not offer even a second of invulnerability to attack or spell, I would settle for a cap on the amount of spells/attacks they could block before they ended prematurely.

Fourth, rework protective spirit so that the damage must be less than x% of your max health in order for it to work. If not, insta-kill.

More ideas?

Guild Wars is not a bad game, and it provides challenge and fun if you don't try to exploit it! STOP EXPLOITING IT! And ANET, stop catering to wikinubs.

The thing is the game is already too much exploited and , looking how long we need to wait for updates ( and especially how crap they are ) , in my opinion things won't change at all . The removal of some places and some kind of play in PvP , and the lack of teams in PvE apart from elite areas ( ye , all want their pro dragon staff or voltaic spear ) made many players leave , and only those " wikinubs " u mentionned are still playing .

But yes , i do agree that such high farm should not have exist : it lead to items which worth more than 2000ectos ( wtf ??) that only high addicts farmer can eventually pay .
In old times , where no SF/ursan/consumables and all , max price could be 500k and everyone by playing a bit could pay. Now , all what they did is in fact promoting playing " SC areas " , and leaving any other farm kind of " joke " .

But well , on the other point , if there wasn't those elite areas , since there 's no updates , not many things left to do in gw WITH A TEAM .

I honestly don't see how these suggestions would fix anything.

The only issue with you wanting to smash these skills into the ground is that no one will use them ever again. Holy Wrath ring a bell? It was destroyed and now no one would touch it with a ten foot pole. We have enough useless skills as it is. If you want to truly fix the game, find ways to make those unused skills usable again, not go the same route and try to destroy more of them.

I'm all for skill nerfs and skill balances, but demanding something to be changed just because you don't like it isn't fixing anything.

I agree, some of these ideas could use a small reworking, but I don't think destroying them or changing them entirely is going to help anything.

Sounds like you're trying to do more harm than good.

The solution is to introduce new content. Theres nothing new in the game really since eotn was released. And lets be honest, eotn was all about grind. Grind out another set of new titles. Grind out more titles to fill your HoM. Grind out enough dungeons to be able to build up a set of destroyer weapons. Grind up etc. That was over 2 years ago. Since then wat have we had? Z-Chest? Codex? No matter how much you change the skills, even if you revert the game to pre factions it will still be dead because its 5 years old and the content is the same.

I have no idea if gw2 will be good, but the fact is that im looking forward to it for its new content pure and simple, even if that content is bad and i quit after a month.

Hmm , you talk about " team build that can do ANY elite area without cons and immunity based skill " , so shall we have to understand that all elite areas are impossible to do with permas /sc teams ? Those areas are supposed to be done with a " balanced " teams , not perma sins running around with 6 cons on themselves .

But , you re right in the sense that updates made things so these areas are quite hard to do if you don't have that sin + all bonus items

well most of this has been suggested many times in the past. idea 1-3-4 all kind of go together if you take HM into consideration. Had HM been better designed, or better implemented or problems fixed over time at any point in the last 3 years most of the past discussions would of never happened. your first point, wouldnt of been needed had the PvP/PvE skill split happened first and HM bosses and surrounding mobs were better designed. your 3rd point, also wouldnt be needed or wouldnt of become a problem in team builds had HM been better designed or some areas tweaked. after the armor stacking cap was put in place that led to the next best thing in the invulnerability related skills on tank builds. DoA is a prime example of a huge mistake on Anet's part. ever try and take a balanced team in there? how long did it take for you last balanced team take to clear UW or FoW, and those areas are much easier then DoA. as for your 4th point, once again refer to HM boss and mob make up issues as why prot spirit has been left alone after 5 years.

Aside from this topic likely being better as a discussion point, this thread is somewhat in violation of Rule 5:

Quote:
5. Post One Idea Per Thread

Do not post "A Few Ideas" threads. If you have more than one idea ---first double check with the search button and the index thread to make sure they're fresh suggestions, and create a separate thread for each one with a relevant title.
Some of the suggestions themselves might have already been suggested previously in a slightly different form, and they haven't come with very good reasons why they need changing or examples with said explanations. For those aforementioned reasons,

Closed.
